Death Of Classical Offers In-Person Performances At Green-Wood Cemetery

Death of Classical, curated by Andrew Ousley in partnership with The Green-Wood Cemetery, will feature two in-person events and six streamed video concerts filmed in the Catacombs from October 22-24.
To America
To America will take place just from October 22-24 at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. The concert is inspired by the poetry of James Weldon Johnson, who is buried in the Cemetery and best known for his anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. This immersive, cemetery-wide performance event combines music, history, literature, and dance.
Performances will feature music by Carlos Simon, H. Leslie Adams, Caroline Shaw, Leonard Bernstein (who is interred at Green-Wood Cemetery), George Walker, and others, as well as poetry by James Weldon Johnson, Langston Hughes, and Terrance Hayes. A limited number of discounted (half-price) tickets will be available to frontline workers.
To America is a collaboration between Green-Wood and Death of Classical, curated by Andrew Ousley and Harry Weil, with Artistic Partner Liz Player and The Harlem Chamber Players.
